The Minimum Wages Act, 1948 provides for fixing minimum rates of wages in certain employments, which are included in the schedule. Karnataka Government enacted Minimum Wages Rules for the effective administration and monitoring of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
- The Act applies to the schedule of employment for which minimum wages are fixed/revised.
- Every employer shall pay the minimum wages for the scheduled employments under this Act. There is provision to fix hours of work, overtime, and wages for overtime.
- Variable DA is fixed based on Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year.
- Minimum wages are fixed in Karnataka on the advice of the State Level Minimum Wages Advisory Board.

17 Mar, 2023The Government of Karnataka had issued a Notification dated 17-03-2023, correcting the wages fixed for skilled and semi-skilled category of employees in Zone II and Zone III. and now has published the Gazette Notification dated 30.05.2023 on the above.This revised rates of minimum wages are applicable to the Scheduled Employment in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy (Ayush),and Allopathic Medicines (including production and advertising department).
