The Karnataka Payment of Wages Rules,1963

This regulates the payment of wages to certain classes of employed persons. The State of Karnataka has enacted special rules for administration and monitoring of the provisions of the Act under Karnataka Payment of Wages Rules 1963.

Compliances

Applicability

  • As per S.O.2260(E), the current wage ceiling for application of the Act is up to Rs. 18,000 pm.  
  • In case of an establishment in which less than 1000 persons are employed, the wages shall be paid before 7th of the succeeding month.
  • In other cases, the wages shall be paid before 10th of the succeeding month.
  • The total deductions in any wage period shall not exceed 75% of wages in case of deduction made to payments to co-operative societies and in all other cases, 50%.
