The Andhra Pradesh Minimum Wages Rules, 1960

The Minimum Wages Act, 1948 provides for fixing minimum rates of wages in certain employments, which are included in the schedule. Andhra Pradesh Government has enacted the Andhra Pradesh Minimum Wages Rules, 1960 for the effective administration and monitoring of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

Compliances

    Applicability

    • The Act applies to the schedule of employment for which minimum wages are fixed/revised. 
    • Every employer shall pay the minimum wages for the scheduled employments under this Act. There is provision to fix hours of work, overtime, and wages for overtime.
    • Variable DA is fixed based on Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year.  
    • Minimum wages are fixed in Andhra Pradesh on the advice of the State Level Minimum Wages Advisory Board.
