ESIC has released Circular for accepting alternate documents for identification of ESI beneficiaries.
Summary of the Notification - ESI Beneficiary Identification
- Aadhaar Authentication Made Voluntary
- Aadhaar can be used only with the beneficiary’s consent.
- Aadhaar is no longer mandatory for ESI services.
Alternate Documents Accepted If Aadhaar is refused or unavailable, ESIC must accept:
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Driving Licence
No Denial of Services ESIC cannot deny benefits for lack of Aadhaar. Beneficiaries must be informed of alternate options.
Effective Date Notification comes into force from 19 August 2025 (date of Gazette publication).
