Duration of Apprentice Training under optional trade

• The duration of apprenticeship training for optional trades will be for 6 months, 9 months and 12 months.
• Basic training duration of 2 to 4 weeks as deemed fit by the employer/establishments, will be embedded within the training duration.
• The duration may exceed more than 1 year in some cases, subject to approval from Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
• However, existing ongoing apprenticeship training contracts having duration of more than one year under optional trade will be completed as per their respective contract periods.

The revised training duration as outlined in this order memorandum will be effective for contracts beginning/signed/approved (whichever is earlier) from 01 July 2022.

List of existing optional trades with revised duration will be uploaded on apprenticeship portal by SSCs within 10 days from the date of this Order Memorandum.
