Background
Aadhaar was introduced as KYC for UAN to simplify service delivery for EPF members. Members whose Aadhaar has already been seeded and verified by UIDAI can update details directly without routing through employers, except in specific cases.
Simplified Aadhaar Seeding Process
If Name, Gender, and Date of Birth in UAN match Aadhaar, employers can directly seed Aadhaar via the KYC functionality on the Employer Portal. No separate EPFO approval required in such cases.
Joint Declaration (JD) Simplifications
Verification & Approval –
All JD requests for Aadhaar seeding/correction are carefully examined. Require approval at APFC level after verifying genuineness. Changes in already UIDAI-verified Aadhaar cases not permitted.
Annexure I – JD Form
Includes fields for correcting Name, DOB, Gender, Parents’ Names, Marital Status, Aadhaar, etc. Requires signatures of member, employer, or authorized authority (if employer is unavailable).
List of Authorized Authorities
Authorities who can attest JD when the employer is not available include: Magistrate, Gazetted Officer, MP/MLA, Village Panchayat President, Bank Manager, Notary Public, Educational Head, Trade Union Office Bearer, etc.
