State-wise Bank Holiday List 2026

India's bank holiday calendar is far more layered than it appears at first glance. Between national holidays, regional festivals, religious observances, Sundays, and the mandatory 2nd and 4th Saturday closures, banks in some states can remain closed for nearly 45–50 days in a year. In festival-heavy months such as October and November, certain regions may even see banking operations paused for three to five consecutive days. What makes this especially unique is that India does not follow one uniform holiday rhythm. Durga Puja shapes banking calendars in the East, Pongal influences closures in Tamil Nadu, Onam affects Kerala, while Bihu, Chhath Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, and regional New Year celebrations drive holidays in other parts of the country. This means a normal banking day in one state can coincide with a major closure period in another.

The tables below highlight all bank holidays, state-wise and for the union territories, observed across India in 2026.
