Glimpse of Statutory Notifications (States) - July 2020

Take a quick glance at the Ordinances and Notifications passed by many State Governments in the month of July,2020.

The States promulgated Ordinances to bring amendments in the –

(i) Factories Act, 1948:

(a) Increased the threshold from ‘ten or more’ workers to ‘twenty or more’ and ‘twenty or more’ to ‘forty or more’ workers under section 2 (m); and

(b) Increased the overtime work hours of any quarter from ‘seventy five hours’ to ‘one hundred and twenty five hours’ under Section 65

(ii) Industrial Disputes Act, 1947:

Increased the threshold from ‘one hundred’ to ‘three hundred’ workmen under Section 25K (1) & (1A) and

(iii) Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970:

Increased the threshold from ‘twenty or more’ to ‘fifty or more’ workmen under Section 1(4) (a).
